Tacori Engagement Rings

A diamonds carat was once considered as the characteristic that defines a diamond. Nowadays, the way a diamond is cut is considered as the most important factor that distinguishes a diamond. A cut describes the angles, shapes, proportions, and the way a diamond shows its brilliance. A cut is determined by a master gem cutter when he takes a diamond in the rough and turns it into a beautiful, polished diamond. The name Princess Cut was first used in relation to another diamond cut known as the Profile Cut which is designed by a London Cutter in 1961

The Princess cut is the next most popular shape for diamonds, next to a round brilliant but is usually slightly cheaper. This is because a princess cut diamond retains about 80% of the rough diamond while a round brilliant retains only 50% of the rough diamond. The face-up shape of the princess cut is either square or rectangular and the side-on shape is the same as an inverted pyramid with four beveled sides and the ability to retain more crystal weight makes this shape popular amongst diamond cutters. The Tacori Princess Cut has 58 facets and the style was created in the early 1960s, and since then has gained popularity as an alternative to the more popular round brilliant cut, wherein the top of diamond, called the crown, is cut with a round face-up shape and the bottom, called the pavilion, is shaped similar to a cone.

Before a diamond can be made into a Tacori Princess, each one is individually inspected by Tacori’s diamond experts and leading gemological organizations in the industry.
